Painting en plein air sketches

Here are some paintings I did today. Just practicing with gouache. They each took about an hour to do.

I was just painting around the neighborhood today. The funny thing that happened was a guy came up to see what I was doing. He liked my painting and wondered what it would cost if I could paint his house for him. It was a good thing I had my business card with me...

Horse Sketches

Here are some sketches that I did of horses, posted by the request of Heather. The anatomy of a horse has been a mystery to me, so I decided to study it and draw it in order to get better. In most adventure stories or stories about heroes, there seems to be horses. However, every time I go to draw a horse, I have a very vague idea of what their actual body construction is like.

Sketching Around

I haven't posted anything in a while, so I thought I'd just share some recent sketches I've done. Over the summer, it has been a great exercise for me to just go out somewhere and draw. It is good to stay in the habit of drawing wherever I am. I have found that drawing is something that I can get rusty at if I don't keep up practice. So here are some drawings I've done to stay in shape!

A Day at the Zoo

Sketching for sketching's sake

Lately, I have just been doing artwork for my class assignments, but I was able to do some sketches just for fun in the past few days. It was nice to just draw because I felt like drawing instead of having to do it for some class with a due date attached to it. I was just drawing for the sake of drawing. Time Capsule
