Plein air at the Lake

I was supposed to go to Del Valle park today for painting, but those plans fell through. So, instead I returned to Lake Chabot once again for some sketching and painting. Here is the plein air I did.

Sketching Around

I haven't posted anything in a while, so I thought I'd just share some recent sketches I've done. Over the summer, it has been a great exercise for me to just go out somewhere and draw. It is good to stay in the habit of drawing wherever I am. I have found that drawing is something that I can get rusty at if I don't keep up practice. So here are some drawings I've done to stay in shape!

Sketches on the Road

Here are some neat sketches I did while traveling a couple weeks ago. We stopped in a town near Santa Cruz called Capitola. Here are some observations I made of people at the beach.

Sketching for sketching's sake

Lately, I have just been doing artwork for my class assignments, but I was able to do some sketches just for fun in the past few days. It was nice to just draw because I felt like drawing instead of having to do it for some class with a due date attached to it. I was just drawing for the sake of drawing. So here are some sketches of locations around San Jose State.

Crayola Fun

Get a pen, a pad of paper, and some Crayola markers! For instant fun, just add WATER!
Here are some sketches I've been doing to experiment with elementary school supplies. It is quite wonderful to discover that you can make cool art with cheapo supplies. I just used a ball point pen and Crayola washable makers. No Faber-Castell or Prismacolor here.

The markers work kind of like watercolors, only they are slightly more permanent. They are not as workable, but it's better than watercolor pencils in my opinion. It's also super simple if you want to do any sketching on location.

Winter Break sketches

Here are a few sketches I've done over the break. I'm continuing to practice faces and dealing with people. It was Alysha's idea that we do a sketch a day. If you want to see her sketches go to this link: Art stuff
